The West Des Moines City Council approved plans for a new amphitheater after two years of planning.The amphitheater will be built next to West Des Moines Library and West Des Moines City Hall. It will seat 2,000 visitors with a waterside view.The project will be named after Jamie Hurd, a 29-year-old Drake University graduate who died of cancer.Construction is set to start in September and plans call for the amphitheater to be finished by summer 2020.KCCI's Cynthia Fodor reports.
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa —
The West Des Moines City Council approved plans for a new amphitheater after two years of planning.

The amphitheater will be built next to West Des Moines Library and West Des Moines City Hall. It will seat 2,000 visitors with a waterside view.
The project will be named after Jamie Hurd, a 29-year-old Drake University graduate who died of cancer.
