Des Moines man searches for his attacker one year later after severe beating
BURGLARIES IN THE AREA. DEVELOPING TONIGHT AS WELL, A DES MOINES MAN IS WORKING WITH POLICE TO FIND THE PERSON WHO ASSAULTED HIM IN A BAR, ONE YEAR AGO THIS WEEK. THAT ASSAULT LEFT HIM WITH GRUESOME BRAIN INJURIES. HE SHARED HIS STORY WITH KCCI’S BEAU BOWMAN. A WARNING TO OUR VIEWERS, SOME MIGHT FIND THESE IMAGES HARD TO WATCH. >> OBVIOUSLY I WANT TO KNOW WHO IT WAS. BEAU: BRANDON WEBSTER WAS AT AJ’S ON EAST COURT ONE YEAR AGO WHEN HE WAS BRUTALLY ASSAULTED. A SKULL FRACTURE AND BRAIN BLEED FORCED DOCTORS TO REMOVE A FOUR INCH BY FOUR INCH SECTION OF HIS SKULL. 52 STITCHES AND A YEAR OF PHYSICAL AND SPEECH THERAPY HAS BROUGHT HIM BACK TO AS CLOSE TO NORMAL AS HE THINKS LIFE WILL GET. BUT EVEN POLICE ARE AT A STANDSTILL FIGURING OUT WHO IT COULD HAVE BEEN. >> IT HAS JUST BEEN FRUSTRATING TO TRY AND SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO AND WE’RE BASICALLY RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS. BEAU: OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS, WEBSTER HAS ACQUIRED $96,000 IN MEDICAL DEBT. THE ONLY DESCRIPTION OF THE SUSPECT IS A LARGE, POSSIBLY HISPANIC MAN. >> WE’VE SOLVED SOME OF THESE CASES OF LONGER PERIODS OF TIME FROM THE ACTUAL INCIDENT, SO THERE IS ALWAYS THAT HOPE. BEAU: BUT ALL WEBSTER WANTS ARE ANSWERS. HE’S OFFERING A $2,000 REWARD TO ANYONE WITH INFORMATION LEADING TO AN ARREST, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH HE DOESN’T REMEMBER HARDLY ANYTHING FROM THAT NIGHT, HE’S HOPING SOMEONE DOES. >> I KNOW IT’S BEEN A YEAR, BUT SOMETHING LIKE THAT, GENERALLY, PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER. BEAU: A GOFUNDME SITE HAS BEEN SET UP TO HELP WITH WEBSTER’S MEDICAL BILLS. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED HERE AT AJ’S ON EAST COURT ON MAY 11TH, 2019, PLEASE CALL THE DES MOINES POLI
