Des Moines man searches for his attacker one year later after severe beating
A year ago this week, a Des Moines man was assaulted in an East Village bar. Now, he's working with police to find the person who hurt him.
"Obviously, I want to know who it was," said Brandon Webster.
Webster was at AJ's on East Court one year ago when he was assault. His skull was fractured and a brain bleed forced doctors to remove a four-inch by four-inch section of his skull.
A year of physical and speech therapy and 52 stitches brought him back to as close to normal as he thinks life will get.
But even police are a standstill figuring out who it could have been.
"It's just been frustrating to try and see what you could do, and we're basically running out of options," Webster said.
Over the past 12 months, Webster has acquired $96,000 in medical debt.
"We've solved some of these cases where much longer period of time from the actual incident, so there is always that hope," said Sgt. Paul Parize, with the Des Moines Police Department.
Anyone with information about what happened at AJ's on East Court on May 11, 2019 is asked to call the Des Moines Police Department.
