BUT CHAD BEACH, THE OWNER OF THE HOME, WAS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE, MARIJUANA AND COCAINE. >> THERE ARE SOME KNOWN RISKS WITH CERTAIN BEHAVIORS, AND IF YOU GET DEEPLY INVOLVED IN THIS NARCOTICS BUSINESS, THIS IS ONE OF THINGS THAT YOU CAN EXPECT THAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN UNFORTUNATELY. >> THE SNOW IS COMING DOWN HEAVY. Two people were injured in a shooting Wednesday morning near Grand View University after police said a possible drug deal went awry. The shooting happened just after 4:30 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of Sampson Street. “A shooting is not the best thing you want to wake up to,” neighbor Tina Drake said. “I knew something before too long would happen over there.”Two victims, Travis Houston, of Ackworth, and Abby Freel, of Indianola, were shot in the torso and suffered nonlife-threatening injuries.Des Moines police Sgt. Paul Parizek said authorities believe the shooting may be narcotics-related. “It certainly looks like it was a drug deal that went bad or some kind of drug rip-off,” Parizek said. There is no description of the suspected shooter, but police arrested the homeowner, Chad Beach, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine.Beach was taken to the Polk County Jail, where he’s being held without bond. “There are some known risks with certain behaviors, and if you get deeply involved in this narcotics business, this is one of the things that you can expect that’s going to happen, unfortunately,” Parizek said.
