Authorities ID driver killed during Story County chase

Authorities Monday confirmed the identity of a driver killed Saturday in a Story County chase. A preliminary report from the Iowa State Patrol said 41-year-old Whaitarkwoia Tomahn, of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, died in the crash. A state patrol trooper initiated a traffic stop on I-35 at 12:25 a.m. Saturday. Authorities said Tomahn took off, and the trooper pursued the individual. When attempting to turn off at the Exit 121 rest stop, Tomahn's vehicle hit a parked semitrailer. Tomahn died from injuries suffered in the crash.
