The new location is set to be built in Clear Lake in conjunction with a new 75-room GrandStay Hotel and conference center.
Clear Lake City Administrator Scott Flory said, "The city is really excited about the opportunity to be the location for the first Jethro's outside of Central Iowa. We think Bruce Gerleman is a terrific Iowa entrepreneur and recipient of the Iowa Restaurateur of the Year Award so we're looking forward to having his restaurant, an Iowa company, to be a part of this new complex."
Jethro’s owner Bruce Gerleman said, "Clear Lake is a wonderful destination resort. We are excited to be the restaurant chosen to be part of their new Convention Center and bring our world-famous BBQ to North Central Iowa."
Jethro’s BBQ has seven locations in the Des Moines metro area, plus one in Ames.
KGLO Radio reports the project will be located on 5.8 acres just east of Interstate 35 and north of State Highway 122.
Groundbreaking is scheduled for early November and construction is expected to take a year to complete.
