BREAKING NEWS BEGIN TONIGHT WITH BREAKING NEWS WHO TO JOIN POLICE HAVE JUST RELEASED THE NAME OF A MAN KILLED TODAY IN A SHOOTING. IT HAPPENED AROUND 1:30 THIS AFTERNOON AT 9TH STREET IN COLLEGE AVENUE, KCCI IS CHRIS GOTHNER IS LIVE AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS, CHRIS. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED? AND STEVE AND STACEY POLICE HAVE JUST RELEASED THAT MAN’S NAME WITHIN THE HOUR. HE’S 23 YEAR OLD KHALID MOHAMED IBRAHIM. EXCUSE ME, RASHID MOHAMMAD IBRAHIM. HERE IS HIS PHOTO POLICE. SAY, HE’S A DES MOINES RESIDENT. HE IS IN DES MOINES RESIDENT OFFICERS ARE CONTINUING TO MURDER TONIGHT. DE MOINES POLICE AND MEDICS DESCENDED ON AN APARTMENT COMPLEX AT 1:30 THURSDAY IN THE CITY’S RIVERBEND NEIGHBORHOOD. I HEARD A BIG OLD BOOM, AND I THOUGHT IT WAS A TRANSFORMER BUT NEIGHBORS SOON FOUND OUT IT WAS MUCH WORSE SOMEBODY THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A GUNSHOT AND I SEEN ALL THE POLICE OFFICERS MADDOX PERFORM CPR ON THE 23 YEAR OLD MAN SHOT INSIDE A VESTIBULE TRAVIS LEECH LOOKED ON IN SHOCK AS HE SAW HIM TAKEN OUT ON A STRETCHER THAT OF KIND OF SCARY AND EVERYTHING. AS CRIME SCENE TAPE WENT UP D MF D RUSHED THE TO THE HOSPITAL. BUT IT WAS TOO LATE POLICE. SAY HE WAS SHOT IN THE TORSO. WE DID RECOVER SOME CASINGS. I DON’T KNOW EXACTLY HOW MANY BUT HE WAS RIGHT INSIDE THE COMMON AREA ENTRANCE TO THE BUILDING THERE. SO WE DON’T KNOW IF THE SHOTS WERE FIRED FROM THE EXTERIOR TO THE INTERIOR RIGHT NOW. WE’LL GET THAT SORTED OUT POLICE SAY THEY INTERVIEWED IN UPWARDS OF TEN WITNESSES AS THEY LAUNCH THEIR MURDER INVESTIGATION. SERGEANT PAUL PARISI SAYS OF PARTICULAR CONCERN WAS THE FACT THAT ALL THIS TOOK PLACE JUST A BLOCK AWAY FROM MOLTEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THE TIMING OF THIS WERE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON. YOU SEE THE SCHOOL BUS IS GOING BY THEIR SCHOOLS CLOSE BY SO THIS IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT WE WANT TO GET OUR HANDS ON RIGHT AWAY AND DIG INTO AND GET WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE IN CUSTODY QUICKLY BECAUSE YOU KNOW, THERE’S A LOT OF KIDS IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. WE JUST CAN’T HAVE THAT. AGAIN, POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE VICTIM AS 23 YEAR OLD RASHID MOHAMED IBRAHIM OF DES MOINES POLICE HAVEN’T REPORTED ANY ARRESTS IN HIS DEATH. Police identify victim of Des Moines homicide
Police have identified the victim of the homicide that occurred Thursday afternoon.Des Moines resident Rashid Mohamed Ibrahim, 23, has been named by Des Moines police. This is the 13th homicide of 2019. Previously Des Moines police say a homicide investigation is underway after a shooting Thursday afternoon.Emergency crews were called to 9th Street and College Avenue in Des Moines on a report of a shooting. It happened at 1:30 p.m. at an apartment at 1613 9th Street.Sgt. Paul Parizek said Ibrahim was shot in the vestibule of the apartment building. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital a short time later. Des Moines police say a homicide investigation is underway after a shooting Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to 9th Street and College Avenue in Des Moines on a report of a shooting.

It happened at 1:30 p.m. at an apartment at 1613 9th Street.

Sgt. Paul Parizek said Ibrahim was shot in the vestibule of the apartment building. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital a short time later.

Parizek said there was no suspect description other than a dark-colored vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed.

Several witnesses are being interviewed by police.

According to Parizek, the street will be shut down for some time while investigators process evidence at the scene.
