Portions of Southeast 14th Street closed late Thursday due to a fire on Des Moines’ southeast side.The Des Moines police and fire departments responded to the Bertroche Center Apartments at 4020 Southeast 14th St. on reports of a fire.The property owner confirmed to KCCI that a small electrical fire started in the building’s attic just before 8 p.m.According to the property owner, all occupants made it out of the building safely and the Red Cross is working to help residents displaced for the evening.Crews at the scene said Southeast 14th Street has reopened.
