The suspect in a Sacramento County triple shooting has been arrested in Antioch after an hourslong manhunt, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities had been searching for Trey Devaughn Hallman, 25, since early Friday morning. Sgt. Tess Deterding said Hallman is suspected of shooting three of his roommates at a home in the 10000 block of Clover Ranch Drive.
Dispatchers received a call around 5:30 a.m. from a man inside the home who said he’d been shot by his roommate, Deterding said. The man told authorities there were four other men inside the home.
When deputies arrived, they found three victims who had been shot. All three were taken to area hospitals. One has life-threatening injuries.
Two other people in the home were injured, but they were not shot, Deterding said.
A SWAT team cleared the home and found a handgun, but not the shooter.
“No other weapons were located, although the original caller stated that the suspect had body armor and was armed with rifles, as well as a handgun,” Deterding said.
Hallman was arrested Friday afternoon in the East Bay Area.
"Negotiators were able to contact Mr. Hallman by telephone. They talked to him for a while," Deputy Rod Grassman said. "We were able to negotiate a surrender, a peaceful surrender with him in the city of Antioch in Contra Costa County."
Former Sacramento Kings player Willie Cauley-Stein rented the home where the shooting happened, a PR firm that represents the homeowner told KCRA 3. Cauley-Stein was drafted by the Kings in 2015. He spent four seasons with the team before signing a free agent contract with the Golden State Warriors this year.
No other details have been released.
