Once-conjoined Sacramento County sisters get custom bikes
Christmas arrived early Saturday for 20 children, who got brand-new bikes custom-designed just for them.
Among them were once-conjoined Sacramento County twin sisters Erika and Eva Sandoval, who were 2 years old when they underwent a marathon 17-hour surgery at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto in 2016. A team of about 50 doctors separated the girls' shared pelvis, digestive system and fused liver.

Thanks to Variety - the Children's Charity of Northern California and the handiwork of Freedom Concepts, Erika and Eva have brand-new bikes that are just right for them.
The $65,000 gift gave 18 other children new rides as well. The giveaway and Santa breakfast took place at Shriners Hospital.
The girls rode the bikes right out of the hospital Saturday. Their mom says her daughters have taken their challenges in stride.
"I think the bicycles that we received (Saturday) from trainers -- it's amazing," said mother Aida Sandoval. "They love them. It's just one more thing that the girls will be able to do that probably was way at a distance, that I thought would never be possible."
