Sacramento groups head to border to help migrants

THEY ARE ATTENDING A RELIGIOUS CELEBRATION AND THEN THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE PRIEST YEAR TO BLESS THEM BEFORE THEY TAKE OFF ON A TRIP AND ONCE THEY GET TO THE BORDER, THEY ARE PLANNING TO FEED CHILDREN WHO ARE THERE AND PROVIDE CLOTHING AND PLENTY OF SUPPORT. THE SACRAMENTO CARAVAN INCLUDES VOLUNTEERS FOR THE -- FROM THE NATIONAL LAWYERS GUILD. THEY SAY FAMILIES AT THE BORDER DESPERATELY NEED THEIR SUPPORT AND THEY ARE ALSO GOING TO BE THERE TO TRANSLATE FOR MIGRANTS, VISIT SHELTERS, AND MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE IS TREATED WITH DIGNITY AND WAS BACKED. VOLUNTEERS FROM SACRAMENTO SAY ALL ASYLUM-SEEKERS SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO THE BORDER AND A QUICK LEGAL PROCESS TO DETERMINE THEIR ELIGIBILITY TO RELOCATE TO THE U.S.. THIS MORNING, THOSE ON THE SACRAMENTO CARAVAN TALKING ABOUT WHY WE NEED TO STAND IN SOLIDARITY. >> NOT ALL OF AMERICA IS TRYING TO KEEP THEM OUT. AMERICA IS NOT A PLACE OF INTOLERANCE AND HATE. THIS IS THE LAND OF IMMIGRANTS. >> WE WANT TO GO AND OPEN OUR ARMS AND SAY YOU ARE WELCOME HERE, WE ARE READY, AND WE ARE GOING TO BE ALSO IN THEIR, IN THE COUNTRY, ONCE YOU ARE ABLE TO GET THROUGH, AND WE ARE GOING TO HELP YOU. >> ORGANIZERS ARE RESPECTING TO LEAVE SACRAMENTO IN ABOUT 15-30 MINUTES. THEY SAY THEY WILL LIKELY ARRIVE AT THE U.S.-MEXICO BORDER BY 6:00 TONIGHT AND THEY PLAN TO BE THERE ASSISTING MIGRANT FAMILIES

A group from Sacramento is headed to the U.S.-Mexico border to help feed children, provide clothing and support for migrants seeking asylum. The Sacramento caravan includes volunteers from NorCal Resist, the National Lawyers Guild and Migra Watch Activists.They will also be there to help translate, visit shelters and make sure everyone is treated with dignity.The volunteers from Sacramento said all asylum seekers should have access to the border and a quick legal process to determine their eligibility to relocate to the U.S.The group plans to leave from Sacramento's Southside Park Wednesday morning and expects to arrive at the border around 6 p.m.
