Sacramento Co Sheriff’s Office mourns death of beloved retired K-9
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the passing of a retired K-9 on Saturday. Officials said the K-9, Eko, was born Aug. 23, 2007, in the Czech Republic and was paired with his handler, Sgt. Jenkins in January 2009. Eko retired in August 2016, spending his retirement with Jenkins’ family. He had been recently diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma, and “peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge surrounded by his loving family,” on Friday, according to a Facebook post posted by the sheriff’s office.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the passing of a retired K-9 on Saturday.

Officials said the K-9, Eko, was born Aug. 23, 2007, in the Czech Republic and was paired with his handler, Sgt. Jenkins in January 2009.

Eko retired in August 2016, spending his retirement with Jenkins’ family.
