KELLIE A MILESTONE CHANGE AT THE HOME OF THE SACRAMENTO RIVER CATS. AFTER DECADES AS REALLY FIELD, THE BALLPARK IS GETTING A NEW NAME. SACRAMENTO MAYOR DALE STEINBERG AND CHRISTOPHER GOLDEN MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT TONIGHT. BRIAN: A SHORT TIME AGO, IT WAS ANNOUNCED IT WILL BE CALLED SUTTER HEALTH PARK AT THE BEGINNING OF NEXT SEASON. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE AT THE BALLPAR IN WEST SACRAMENTO TONIGHT. RALEY’S IS A GROCERY STORE CHAIN WHOSE NAME HAS BEEN ON THE FIELD FOR 20 YEARS, BUT NOW THE CONTRACT IS OVER, AND SUTTER HEALTH HAS STEPPED IN TO BE THE NEW NAMING SPONSOR OF THE BALLPARK. THE CHANGE

The Sacramento River Cats home field is getting renamed, the team announced Friday.Raley Field will be renamed as Sutter Health Park after the 2019 baseball season."Sutter Health has been a long-time partner to the Sacramento River Cats -- whether it was their network doctors serving as team physicians or through their sponsorship of our Saturday night fireworks," River Cats general manager Chip Maxson said in a statement. "We are excited about this new opportunity where we can concentrate on a variety of community-focused projects on and off the field, while also lending the Sutter Health name to the home of the River Cats.”The renaming is part of a multiyear deal, the team said.“Sutter Health is excited to expand our nearly 20-year community partnership with the River Cats,” Sutter Health Chief Operating Officer James Conforti said in a statement. “Together we call this region home, and we are passionate about supporting our vibrant community.”The team said Raley’s, the grocery store chain based in West Sacramento after which the field was originally named, will transition out of its role with the team over the 2019 season."Twenty years ago, Raley’s made a commitment to support our local baseball club, which was a defining moment for our region," River Cats President Jeff Savage said in a statement. "We are very grateful for their partnership over the years and all that we have accomplished together in support of our organization, our players and the larger community."The River Cats are a Triple-A affiliate for the San Francisco Giants.
