Iowa City reopens some streets, warns of “multiple days” of power outages
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Storm cleanup is progressing in Iowa City, with some important streets reopened on Wednesday, according to city officials.
The City of Iowa City said, in a post to its Facebook page, that Court Street between Third and Fourth Avenues, Rochester Avenue between First and Seventh Avenues, and Muscatine Avenue between Second and Third Avenues are all reopened. Other significant thoroughfares are still blocked, according to the city, pending clearance from MidAmerican Energy.
Over 12,500 customers in the Iowa City and Coralville areas are without electricity, according to MidAmerican. Iowa City officials said that if you do not yet have electricity to be prepared for extended outages.
