Kitchen fire damages Ocean Sushi

On Thursday, June 30, the Keizer Fire Department (KFD) responded to a fire that took place at Ocean Sushi and Teriyaki Restaurant (3843 River Rd N). 

KFD received the call at 5:50 a.m. and firefighters were on the scene at 5:55 a.m., finding heavy smoke coming from the two-story commercial building 

Salem Fire Department (SFD) and Marion County Fire Department (MCFD) also responded to the call.

Firefighters found the fire in the kitchen after making it into the building. 

The rest of the downstairs had heavy smoke damage and upstairs just had minor smoke damage.

The cause of the fire was due to an electrical issue, according to KFD Fire Marshal Ann-Marie Storms. 

Four engines, two medic units, one latter truck and one Battalion Chief were on the call, with a total of 19 firefighters.

The fire was put out with no one injured.
