Ski season is getting underway in the Northern Black Hills.  Terry Peak, near Lead, opens seven days a week starting today.  Skiers and snowboarders can hit the slopes starting at 9 a.m.  

The tubing hill is now open at Great Bear Ski Valley on the east side of Sioux Falls.  Great Bear is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Faith Baptist Fellowship will be wrapping Christmas gifts for free at both church locations in Sioux Falls, located at 601 W. 57th Street and 8545 W. 26th Street.  The hours are from 1-5 p.m.  

Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls is hosting a Live Nativity from 5-7 p.m. featuring live animals, actors, fire pits, Christmas carols and a homemade soup supper.  The Live Nativity is a fundraiser for Church on the Street & Laundry of Love.  Holy Cross Lutheran is located at 1300 S. Sertoma.

Our Redeemer Lutheran Church presents a Christmas Concert featuring hand-bells, brass and adult choir plus carol singing.  The concert is at 3 p.m.  Admission is free.  Our Redeemer Lutheran is located at 2200 S. Western Avenue in Sioux Falls.

Christmas Acres in Le Mars features an estimated 150,000 lights plus sculptures, music and inflatables from 5-10 p.m.  Donations will be accepted for the Christian Needs Center in Le Mars.  Christmas Acres is located at 18481 Impala Avenue. 

Take in the festive holiday lights on display at Falls Park.  Winter Wonderland is nightly from 6 to midnight through January 6.  Admission is free. 

Christmas at the Western Mall in Sioux Falls is a holiday fundraiser for Make A Wish South Dakota.  The synchronized lights and music go from 5:30 to 9:30 each night through New Year’s Day.  

Christmas at the Capitol presents An Enchanted Christmas.  Nearly 90 decorated trees are on display at the South Dakota Capitol in Pierre.  The display is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through December 25.

Santa Claus is greeting holiday shoppers in downtown Sioux Falls today.  He’ll be at Shriver Square on Phillips Avenue starting at 10 a.m.  

A Rock N Roll Christmas is a holiday concert at the Palace Theater in Luverne.  The performance is at 8 pm.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students.  The concert is a fundraiser for Luverne Street Music.

Enjoy story time and an animal encounter during the Bookworms Reading Program at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls.  The program starts  at 1 p.m. in the KELOLAND Education Center.  The cost is a zoo admission.  

The Sioux Falls Swim Team is hosting a Winter Invitational Swim Meet at the Midco Aquatic Center. More than 400 athletes from 15 South Dakota teams are competing.  The morning session begins at 9:15 a.m.  The afternoon session begins at 2:20 p.m.  The meet concludes on Sunday.  Admission is free.

The Stampede hockey team takes on the Green Bay Gamblers at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.  The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.  Tickets are available at the KELOLAND Box Office.
