A 51-year-old man has died after crashing his motorcycle when a deer crossed the road around 1 a.m. on Monday morning in Sioux Falls.

The crash happened on North 60th St. near Kiwanis Ave. Police closed down parts of street for a few hours Monday morning.

Police say two motorcycles were riding side by side when a deer crossed the road. The bikes started to slow down to avoid the deer and the handlebars clipped each other.

This caused one bike to wobble and eventually go off the road. The 51-one-year-old man, who was riding the bike, was ejected. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police say it’s too early to say if there’s anything else that contributed to the crash such as alcohol, drugs or medical issues.
