A businessman who admits he lied to get more than a million dollars in government contracts could be headed back to a South Dakota courtroom.

Wallace Tang faces new federal charges.  He and two others formed corporations in California and then registered them in other states, including South Dakota and North Dakota.  That allowed them to apply for and receive more federal contracts.

Tang was in court last September, when he pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud.  A judge later sentenced him to two years probation and ordered him to pay more than a million dollars in restitution.

Tang is now charged with violating the False Claims Act and Common Law Fraud.  If found guilty, he may have to pay the government more than three times the amount he illegally took.

The victims include NASA, the National Science Foundation and other government organizations.

Following Tang’s original plea, U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons said Tang was not only ripping off taxpayers, but stealing part of our future.
