Thousands of people will be coming to Sioux Falls this weekend for the largest gun show in the Midwest.
KELOLAND News takes you to the Trophy Gun Show, which is also known as The Big One.
Don Glynn has been interested in guns since he was a young boy.
“It’s just a hobby,” Glynn said.
Friday the Fullerton, North Dakota man owns well over 100 guns. He’s showing and selling some of them this weekend.
“I would say it’s one of the five top shows in the United States,” Glynn said.
The show has more than 1,100 tables of firearms and around 400 dealers.
“Because of the size, it draws in dealers and displayers from across the country,” Show Manager Rob Moore said.
With thousands of people coming to Sioux Falls to check out the guns, it also gives the Sioux Falls economy a boost.
“Look at how much they spend on hotel rooms and food and gasoline and entertainment. Usually these guys bring their wives too, and they do a lot of shopping,” Moore said.
“I’ll spend $1,000 at least just staying here,” Glynn said.
The show comes at a time when gun sales are down. Some call it the Trump Slump.
“When Obama was in office, there was a lot of fear that the guns were going to be taken away, so firearm sales spiked,” Moore said.
Still, Moore is aiming for a great turnout at an event that some have their sights set on year round.
“Mainly to visit with my friends,” Glynn said.
