Kent is set to bask in a mini-heatwave as temperatures are about to soar into the thirties.

Last week saw the county deluged by torrential downpours, with the Met Office issuing weather warnings for both rain and thunderstorms.

But that's all behind us now as temperatures will rise over the weekend with the mercury peaking somewhere near 30C in Kent on Tuesday (June 18) , according to the Met Office .

Though great news, the warm weather could be short-lived, Mirror Online reports, as beyond Wednesday conditions will be more changeable.

Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge told the Daily Star  : "We are expecting to see high pressure rebuild during the early part of next week and we expect to see temperatures possibly hitting the mid-20s or even higher by the middle of the week.

"This is most likely across the south and east of the country as we have warm air coming up from the continent where temperatures are going to get into the 30s.

"However, this is going to be short-lived, beyond Wednesday it is going to turn more changeable, but the pattern of almost incessant rain is going to come to an end.

"There is some more rain forecast over the next few days but it is going to be nothing like what we have seen through this week.

Brighter weather will be seen in the eastern part of Britain as the area in between Norwich and Canterbury will enjoy 19C by midday today.
