Three friends who had met up in a car park in Longfield Road industrial estate in Tunbridge Wells were threatened with a wheel wrench and robbed.

And one of the group told police he was punched in the face by one of their assailants.

The trio had been socialising in the car park of the former Toys R Us store on Thursday (August 15) at about 9.40pm.

A car described as a Citroen was driven towards them and a passenger got out. He asked to swap his change for a bank note. But as soon as they passed him the bank note, he got back in the car and they left.

Kent Police said it wasn't long before the pair returned in the car and this time, the passenger and driver got out.

A spokesman said: "It is alleged demands were made to hand over possessions including phones, money and keys that one of the victims was punched in the face. It is further alleged a wheel wrench was produced and used in a threatening manner.

"A quantity of cash is reported to have been stolen and one of the victim’s car was also damaged after being struck by the wrench, before both suspects left the scene," he added.

Two men, aged 19 and 20 and from Tunbridge Wells have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They were later released pending further investigation.
