Picture the scene.

It's Shrove Tuesday and it's too late to buy any pancakes.

There's nothing worse than Pancake Day without pancakes.

And even if you wanted to grab some last minute you probably couldn't because all the eggs, milk and flour in the county has disappeared from the supermarket's shelves.

Where has it all gone you ask? Well you might want to ask the Penny Theatre because the pub in Canterbury is holding a huge pancake eating challenge and it's probably enough to satisfy your pancake cravings for every single Shrove Tuesday left in your life.

In any case, it means you know where to head to satisfy your cravings on March 5.

Made up of 30 fluffy pancakes, the challenge towers so high the disks have to be speared into place with a wooden skewer.

The pancakes come with a choice of sweet or savoury sauces - which is probably a very important decision when you have to eat 30 of them.

Anyone who can finish the mountain of food in front of them will get their face up on the wall of fame.

And if this isn’t motivation enough, the pub is offering a £20 gift-card every month to whoever devours the challenge the quickest, with an extra £50 for whoever tops the leader boards at the end of the year.

It's not the only hideously big food challenge on offer at the city centre pub either.

So if pancakes aren't your thing (what is wrong with you!?) then you can try two other massive plates for a shot at the wall of fame.
