Less than a year after it first opened to excited customers the Disney Store in Canterbury will close for good.

The pop up store officially opened at the former Build-A-Bear unit in Whitefriars Shopping Centre in August 2018.

But now staff have confirmed the store, which was never supposed to be a permanent fixture in the high street, will shut within a matter of days.

It was initially supposed to remain open until "at least Christmas 2018", selling favourite toys from the Disney, Marvel and Star Wars franchises.

But it seems since then the store was operating under borrowed time and its last day of trading will be Wednesday (July 31).

Shoppers will be able to take advantage of the ongoing summer sale until it closes its doors for the final time.

It is not yet known what will replace the soon to be empty unit in Gravel Walk opposite Sports Direct.

However a job advert for a new store opening at Whitefriars has appeared in recent days.

Stationary store Typo says it is looking for an assistant manager for a new shop "opening in October 2019".

Bosses at Whitefriars have been approached for comment.
