Kids and adults alike will soon be able to journey through major moments in British history, modelled in LEGO bricks.

More than 150,000 pieces of the popular children's toy will arrive as part of a special event in Canterbury this weekend.

Called Bricks Britannia: A History of Britain in LEGO Bricks, the event will feature 30 stunning models built by Bright Bricks, the leading company for LEGO brick creations.

Perhaps most excitingly, it will include a show stopping eight metre long model of the Flying Scotsman, the world’s most famous steam locomotive, with light, sound and smoke effects.

Other iconic moments from British history, from the Stone Age to the 21st Century, will also be presented in brick form at this exciting new interactive exhibition coming to The Beaney museum during the February half term.

There will also be a unique opportunity to dive in and let your imagination run wild in a 70,000 piece LEGO Brick Pit.

A spokesman for the event said: "Using over 150,000 LEGO bricks, this is a must-see exhibition for the whole family, and a real treat for LEGO brick fans."

Bricks Britannia: A History of Britain in LEGO Bricks opens at The Beaney on Saturday, February 9 and runs until Sunday, February 24.

Admission is £6.50 and £5 for children, with under threes free.
