Dogs eat poisoned sausages left in garden in Bekesbourne near Canterbury

Dogs needed medical attention after they woofed down sausages laced with poison.

The meat, which contained peroxide and weed killer, is thought to have been purposely left in a garden in Bekesbourne, near Canterbury.

Police are on the hunt to find the person responsible for leaving the poison.

Officers were called to the house in Cranmer Close at about 1.20pm last Tuesday.

The owner of the property discovered white powder in the sausages and called the emergency services.

Sgt Colette Todd said: "Officers attended the address with experts from Kent Fire and Rescue Service who carried out a test, and established the sausages contained peroxide and weed killer, which is harmful if swallowed.

"The dogs are OK after receiving medical attention however inquiries are ongoing to locate the person responsible."
