Simon Langton Girls' Grammar School pupil Ava Silsbury, from Canterbury, fronts New Look summer collection

A schoolgirl is fronting a campaign promoting a major high street retailer's summer collection.

Ava Silsbury, 14, who attends Simon Langton Girls' Grammar School in Canterbury, is one of four young teens selected to model New Look's latest festival clothes range.

As a result, Ava, who lives in Oaten Hill, has found herself featured on the global fashion brand's website and in stores across the country.

Having only taken up modelling less than a year ago, she says she was "thrilled" when approached to help showcase the new collection, which includes dresses, playsuits and other summer pieces.

"I work with an agency called Kids London, and they just texted me and said New Look wanted me for a campaign," she said.

"I was thrilled, as it was such a big opportunity."

The gig is Ava's second modelling job, after a stint helping to promote Asda's George clothing range.

"The campaign was around carnivals, fairground rides, and summer fairs, so we just went to this little country house," said Ava, who also enjoys singing, reading and snowboarding.

"It was like a massive party and didn't feel like a job, it was just really good fun."

Her mum Sarah is equally proud.

"It's really competitive and a lot of kids want it, so we're just really happy," she said.
