It's hot outside but there is one man keeping things cool. This week's Community Champion is bringing people together through wet but refreshing fun. KETV Newswatch 7 visited the hydrant party at Montclair Community Center on South 135th Avenue. They don't call it a hydrant party for nothing. It was a hot day and dozens of kids were running through a fountain of cold water. They also got to climb inside a firetruck and eat slushies. All around, there was nothing but laughs and smiling faces. "It's just fun to get hit with a water balloon or get sprayed in the face. That's what is fun about it," Tyce Dyer said. And the man behind it all is Milton Kitchen. "I am the official water hydrant man of summer," Kitchen said. "I started doing these back in 1982 so if I do my math right, that's 37 years."Kitchen is retired now but he was an Omaha Public School teacher at Mortan Magnet Middle School for 31 years. During summer, Kitchen said he wanted to do something outside the classroom. "A very close friend of mine named Tom McGan was in charge of Omaha Parks and Rec.
