NEWS LEADER, KETV NEWSWATCH 7 FIRST NEWS STARTS WITH BREAKING NEWS. CHINH: BREAKING OVERNIGHT, A GUNSHOT VICTIM PULLS UP TO OFFICERS DURING A TRAFFIC STOP ASKING FOR HELP. GOOD MORNING. I’M CHINH DOAN. POLICE SAY THEY WERE MAKING A STOP NEAR FONTENELLE AND WIRT WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED UP TO OFFICERS. THAT WAS JUST BEFORE 10:30 FRIDAY NIGHT. THEY SAY A VICTIM IN THAT CAR HAD BEEN SHOT. OFFICERS CALLED FOR HELP AND THAT VICTIM WAS TRANSPORTED IN CRITICAL CONDITION. NO ONE ELSE IN THE CAR WAS HURT. WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING, OTHER OFFICERS WERE RESPONDING TO A REPORT OF GUNSHOTS NEAR 50TH AND BEDFORD. INVESTIGATORS FOUND SHELL CASINGS AND BELIEVE THE TWO SCENES MAY BE CONNECTED. POLICE HAVE NOT ARRESTED ANYONE YET. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION, CALL POLIC ALSO NEW OVERNIGHT, POLICE CLOSE DOWN SEVERAL BLOCKS OF A NORTH OMAHA NEIGHBORHOOD THEY BLOCKED OFF THE AREA NEAR 26TH AND GRANT AROUND TWO THIS MORNING. IT’S UNCLEAR WHY THEY WERE INVESTIGATING THAT AREA. WE DO KNOW ONE PERSON WITH MINOR INJURIES WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FROM THAT SCENE. ITS UNCLEAR IF THAT PERSON WAS SUSPECT OR VICTIM. Omaha police said one person sustained non-life threatening injuries in a shooting near 50th and Bedford Avenue late Friday.

Omaha police said one person sustained non-life threatening injuries in a shooting near 50th and Bedford Avenue late Friday. Officers in the area of 45th and Wirt Streets said they heard several gunshots around 10:15 p.m. Police said moments later, a green Ford Taurus flagged the officers down. The driver, 19-year-old Roderick Hurst, told officers that he had been shot. Omaha Fire Department medics arrived on scene and took Hurst to the Nebraska Medicine to be treated. Police said officers determined that occupants in a silver vehicle shot at the vehicle that Hurst was in. The investigation is ongoing.
