Dozens of runners across our area gathered to run in the annual Turkey Trot.

Pam Thompson, the development director of The Cystic Fibrosis Association, says this originally started as a small fundraiser for a lung transplant which has grown to hundreds of people running running along the Missouri River.

Registration began at the Elks Lodge at 8 a.m. and the race right of W. Arbor Ave.

Those that run help raise money for medication, college scholarships and travel to medical appointments for individuals with cystic fibrosis.

"We raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Association and all of that money stays right here in North Dakota and directly helps people with cystic fibrosis," said Thompson.

This has become a popular annual trend for several people in our area. Not only are they raising money for a cause, but they are keeping a family tradition.

"Still its great, its fun, it gets the family together and then we can go home and enjoy Thanksgiving dinner, " said

The race ended with chocolate chip cookies, water and plenty of smiles.

CFA says they surpassed their fundraiser goal this year and plans on continuing this tradition in the years to come.
