Bismarck Airport main runway opening

The main runway at the Bismarck Airport is nearly ready to open.

Airport officials say the construction is complete, and crews have been putting markings on the pavement.

They were also finishing up connector taxi-ways before opening it up for traffic.

Airport Director Greg Haug says if all the work is completed by sundown today, the runway will open first thing Tuesday morning.

"It is being completed within the contract time we were hoping to have it open a little bit earlier but it is within the contract period," said Matthew Remynse, Bismarck Airport marketing operation manager.

This is the second phase of the reconstruction.

The third phase will take place next summer.
