The Bismarck City Commission is setting aside $250,000 in 2020 to help build a new homeless shelter.

MSA United Way, has been running a temporary shelter at this location in downtown since winter 2018, is looking to construct a new building that would also offer services to help those seeking help, to get back on their feet.

we want to make sure the police aren't spending time on the homeless that we're able to take care of them and help them into permanent housing as soon as possible," said Jena Gullo, of MSA United Way.

The operating budget each year for the shelter would be about a million dollars.
