Teachers and parents in Bismarck Public Schools are heading back to school with a warning from officials that an assessment platform used in classrooms up through the last school year has been impacted in a nationwide data breach.

The Bismarck Public Schools says Aimsweb 1.0 was used with K-5 students receiving support interventions. The breach has affected more than 13,000 schools and universities.

The company behind the platform has reported no evidence of data being misused.

The platform does not contain any financial information, but families and staff are warned that first and last names, dates of birth, and district email addresses may be impacted.

The school board is now working with the company to offer complimentary credit monitoring services from Experian for those affected. Though, again, they do not have any evidence information was misused.
