David Ellefson of Bismarck has been presented with AARP’s highest honor, the 2019 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service.

The Andrus Award symbolizes individuals have the power and ability to make a difference in the lives of others. The award is given to one North Dakotan a year.

Ellefson was selected for his more than 50 years of volunteer service in the community.

Ellefson has been a devoted caregiver to his elderly neighbors and disabled work colleagues for years.
