Bismarck residents will soon see a change on their water bill.

The City Commission accepted a new pricing system inspired by a utility rate study.

The plan looks at capacity rather than square footage of a property.

"Lawn watering is actually going to become a bigger deal as well. We need to have more conversations with that in the future, too. So if your water use is greater than like 24 units it's going to be a little more expensive than it had been in the past," said Michelle Klose, Public Works utility operations director.

The commission also extended an emergency route on State Street from Skyline Drive to 57th Avenue, accepting responsibility from the state.
