Bismarck students a part of the laying of wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Several Bismarck students were a part of the laying of the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider ahead of Memorial Day.

Wachter Middle School eighth-graders are able to take a trip to Washington D.C., and every year teachers try to request different perks.

Four students were picked to help in the laying of the wreath.

“This ceremony you are about to witness is an army wreath laying ceremony. To be conducted by Wachter Middle School," said a solider to the crowd.

A trip to the Nation’s Capitol provided these Middle Schoolers with an experience of a lifetime.

And four students were picked to be a part of the laying of the wreath ceremony.

"It's very surreal just to even be in front of the tomb, to know that these men and women have laid down their lives so we can have our freedom," said Wachter eighth-grader Wyatt Lyons.

An experience they'll talk about for years to come.

Wachter eighth-grade Chante Gould said, "Very excited to get chosen and very honored to be able to actually do that."

Representing their school on the National level.

Wachter eighth-grader Ali Gulleson said, "Not a lot of people get to do that, so I'll be caring this with me for the rest of my life."

As they stood proud to represent our state. They say it's something they'll never forget.

The students will be heading back home this evening savoring an experience of a lifetime.
