After all the build up, it was finally time for Brave the Shave's Flagship Event in Bismarck. Hundreds of people went bald in support of children with cancer.

Taner Ohlsen takes the stage to get the crowd going. He has been working with Brave the Shave for years. His son Dash had cancer and recovered.

"We've seen first hand all the needs that are out there that aren't being met, and so by pouring ourselves into this we're able to help other families that are struggling through this disease," said Ohlsen, family representative.

At the beginning of the day, they had already raised more than $250,000 for the cause, and people were lining up to get shaved.

"It's just such an awful situation to go through, so I think it's important to do stuff like this. Especially for the people who are going through it," said Nick Colwell, Bismarck.

Some teams use crazy hairstyles to bring in extra money. Ohlsen tried on a new look this year.

"I've been getting quite the looks. It's been a lot of fun, and ever since I did it I've raised $975," said Ohlsen.

He says his own team, Balderdash, might all have to adopt the wacky tradition next year.

For those that missed out there is still time to help out. You can donate at bravetheshave.net

Another event will be held in Minot at the end of the month.
