FirstChoice Women's Care Center recently opened their 3rd facility in the state.

The new downtown Bismarck center provides support and resources to expecting mothers.

Director Donna Miller says one in every seven babies in Burleigh County is now born to a Women's Care Center mom.

In July of 2019, the Capital City became home to a new Women's Care Center.

The center was completely renovated to accommodate its clients.

Director Donna Miller says they chose a former home for their center because of its visibility and accessibility.

"Having a home available for these services is really much different than entering an office or a clinic setting. I think a person becomes instantly comfortable when they walk in this house. And I think, that just really lends itself to openness and good conversation," Miller says.

Both of which Miller says are a priority to the center in determining a patient's needs.

The building has three rooms dedicated to counseling, an ultrasound room and a parenting classroom.

The center also offers a crib club which allows mothers to earn coupons through education. They can then exchange those coupons for clothing or toys in the boutique-like crib club.

"Whatever her needs may be, whatever situation she is in, we welcome everyone with love," Miller explains.

The support the center provides begins when a women finds out she's pregnant up until the child reaches Kindergarten.

The nurses on staff are trained to offer education, free pregnancy testing and limited first trimester ultrasounds.

Miller says there are 126 babies due to Women's Care Center moms in Bismarck alone.
