North Dakota State Sen. Oley Larsen, R-Minot, is receiving backlash on social media after sharing a debunked image that claims to be U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar ,D-Minn., at an al-Qaida training camp.

The photo in question, which shows a person holding a weapon, was debunked by the Associated Press as having anything to do with Omar. The AP reports it was taken at a military training camp in Mogadishu in 1978, before Omar was born.

Larsen also shared an article from the New York Post on his Facebook page Sunday about a military veteran challenging Omar’s seat in Congress, with the caption “A vet over a terrorist hope people get off the couch and take time off work to go vote her out.”
