Life Expressions Family Chiropractic in Bismarck has teamed up with 11-year-old Alexis Thompson, who started a North Dakota Chapter for Curvy Girls to support other people in the community with scoliosis.

Families met Thursday evening to discuss experiences with x-rays, braces, and surgeries.

Supporters say those who are dealing with the condition should not feel alone, but they should be checked early to keep their condition in check.

"They don't do checks in the schools like they used to, and because of that those diagnosis are getting missed, and when they get missed, often times when we see them in our office. There is not a whole lot we can do, those curves have already progressed and instead of having any conservative option for treatment they are already at a point where surgery is the only other option," said Dr. Mandy Dietz, chiropractor.
