A truck driver woke up early Thursday morning to smoke in his cab, where he was sleeping while parked the Apple Creek Rest Area on westbound I-94, east of Bismarck.

Burleigh County Sheriff's deputies responded to the driver’s call of a fire just after 4:30 a.m. that spread to the car transport attached to his cab. The trailer was carrying two cars going to Veracity Motors and five going to Eide Ford Lincoln in Bismarck. All seven cars were destroyed before Bismarck Rural firefighters put the flames out.

The driver made it out without any injury.

There's no word yet on what caused the cab to catch fire.
