Recognizing veterans and learning about their stories is a way to honor those who serve our country.
The Veterans Portrait Project is meant to do just that, and it’s coming to Bismarck on July 9.
With a plan to visit all 50 states by the end of the year, it's already visited more than 8,000 veterans in 32 states.
"For me, the Veterans Portrait Project has been a healing tool and it started out just a way to heal myself, but also thank veterans. Now it's grown into something that's much more than that. It's giving a voice to the veterans," said Stacy Pearsall, photographer and veteran.
The photography is free for veterans. To donate or sign up go to veteransportraitproject.com.
