Don't miss the play that's described as "at turns funny and powerful," Mothers and Sons, a contemporary drama, will premier at the Atlas Theatre on Friday, February 1 for a two-week run.

Mothers and Sons is about the generational impact of AIDs on families and the subsequent opportunities for hope and reconciliation.

Nominated for multiple Tony and Drama Desk awards when it first opened on Broadway in 2014, Mothers and Sons was written by acclaimed playwright Terrence McNally and depicts the story of a woman paying an unexpected visit to the New York apartment of her late son’s partner, now married to another man and raising a young son.

As the characters in the play reflect on the challenges of a changing society, the still-grieving mother (Katharine) revisits the past and begins to deal with the life her deceased son might have led.

For Katharine, time stopped with the death of her son Andre 20 years ago; Cal introduces his husband Will and Bud, the son they are raising together. The 90-minute play unfolds in real time, with Katharine and Cal confronting their shared past and coming to grips with an evolving understanding of what the present and the future have to offer to a “family-in-the-making.”

Cheyenne Little Theatre’s production of Mothers and Sons is directed by Brenda Lyttle, and runs for two weekends: February 1-3 and February 7-10. The second weekend of performances will open with a “$10 Thursday” evening performance on February 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Opening night--Friday February 1--will feature a “scotch-tasting” beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a $10 cover charge. Before the second Friday’s performance, CLTP will be hosting a “wine-tasting” at 6:30 p.m., again with a $10 cover.

Tickets for Mothers and Sons are: $22 for adults, $18 for seniors and military, $16 for students, and $12 for children 12 and under. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased on Cheyenne Little Theaters website or call the box office at 307-638-6543.
