Union Pacific and The Denver Post are ending their partnership to run the Denver Post Cheyenne Frontier Days Train. In a release issued earlier today, The Post said UP’s use of its historic rail cars in 2019 and beyond played a contributing factor in the CFD Train run’s demise.

KGWN NewsChannel 5 reached out to UP for comment on this issue. In an emailed statement to the station, UP spokesperson Kristen South said, “Union Pacific enjoyed itspartnership with The Denver Post and The Denver Post Community Foundation. This year, we look forward to celebrating the 150th anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad, which includes sharing our historic steam locomotives No. 844 and The Big Boy, No. 4014 with communities in several states along the route. We will announce trip details in the coming weeks.”

The Denver Post Cheyenne Frontier Days Train started running in the early 1900’s.
