The City of Cheyenne is working to keep drivers safe.

In the summer public works fills up sheds with at least a thousand tons of ice control material. In the budget they have an option of adding an additional two thousand tons throughout the year.

When they are expecting icy roads that put workers on a snow plan, which means workers may come in around 2am to work the plows.

They usually see the most usage of ice control material in the springtime. But when the weather gets bad they are prepared to send out employees at anytime.

Public Works Director, Vicki Nemecek said, "Our crews are great. They are always willing to be out there. And they know that when they're hired that that's their job. So we' appreciate that.."

Public works would like to remind everyone to give the plows some space when driving to keep everyone safe.
