Honolulu firefighters responded to a house fire in Aiea Thursday morning.

The blaze was reported on Pono Street around 7:25 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to see a single-story residential structure with light smoke emanating from the left side of the structure.

The fire was brought under control at 7:33 a.m. and fully extinguished at 7:43 a.m.

It was reported that a passerby was walking his dog and smelt smoke and reported the fire. Three occupants were not home at the time of the fire.

HECO was notified and arrived on scene to secure power to the structure.

Fire Investigators have completed their investigation.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Fire Investigators reported that due to the lack of specific evidence found in the area of origin the exact location and manner in which the fire began could not be determined.

The undetermined classification of a fire means that the fire investigator analyzed all possible causes of the fire but there is insufficient information to identify any one specific cause.

In addition, there is insufficient information to substantially eliminate some or all of the other possible causes.

The case is now closed, and can be reopened if there were introduction or discovery of new information about the fire.

Fire damages are estimated at $240,000 to the structure and $40,000 to its contents.

The total property loss for this incident has been estimated to be $280,000.

No one was injured.
