Two Colorado women have been arrested after police say they used a toy handgun to try to rob a Boise coffee shop worker.

About 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Boise Police officers responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery at a coffee shop on the 8600 block of Overland Road.

“Reports indicate that a woman had approached the shop window and demanded money, while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm,” said BPD spokesman Ryan Larrondo. “The suspect did not get any cash and, when she attempted to leave the store, an employee chased after her as officers arrived on scene.”

After a brief foot chase, officers were able to detain the woman -- as well as a second woman who had also run off.

“Officers also located a replica toy handgun in the area -- and a vehicle reported stolen out of Colorado that the suspects had been driving,” Larrondo said.

Officers arrested Miriam Davenport, 18 and Hannah Prieto, 20, both from Colorado Springs. Davenport faces felony charges of attempted robbery, grand theft, and being a fugitive to Idaho. Prieto was charged with felony robbery and grand theft.
