EAGLE, Idaho — Wreaths Across America had more volunteers than ever show up Saturday morning to place more than 5,000 wreaths on the graves of fallen heroes at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.

It took less than an hour for volunteers to decorate every grave site at the cemetery, showing just how far Wreaths Across America has come in Idaho.

“It’s inspiring; five years ago we had 35 people out here," said James Earp, the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery Director. "We are having families make this tradition.”

Wreaths Across America makes it their mission to remember the fallen, honor those that serve and teach the next generation the value of freedom. That's what struck a chord for June Pugmire, who's parents are buried in the cemetery.

"It's so important," said Pugmire. "I saw one little girl laying the wreath and that is showing our young how to pay respect and that our freedom is not free."
