Police were asking the public to avoid a neighborhood in northeast Colorado Springs Friday night.

At about 9 p.m. police tweeted out the following:

"Heavy police activity in the 5400 block of Stetson Meadows Drive. Stay out of the area.

The neighborhood is just east of Peterson Road and south of Stetson Hills Boulevard. At about 9:15 p.m. authorities announced a wanted person was taken into custody.

Police are reporting it all started at about 5:49 p.m. when they were called to a report of domestic violence in the 300 block of W. Dale Street northwest of downtown Colorado Springs. Police were able to establish probable cause for a domestic violence arrest for second-degree assault. The suspect was identified as 58-year-old Jay Michael. Police tracked him to Stetson Meadows Drive.

When police tried to make contact with Michael he refused to leave the home. Following a standoff, Michael came out and surrendered.
