Denver Broncos alumni and special guests will announce the team’s 2019 NFL Draft choices live on NFL Network from Nashville, Tenn., (Rds. 2-3) and Winter Park, Colo. (Rds. 4-5).

Former linebackers Al Wilson (Rd. 2) and Karl Mecklenburg (Rd. 3) will represent the Broncos at the NFL Draft in Nashville, Tenn., on Friday.

On Saturday, several of the Broncos Day 3 picks will be announced at the base of Mary Jane Territory at Winter Park Resort. As part of the festivities, Winter Park Resort, an Ikon Pass destination, will be offering $59 lift tickets (Saturday only) and a 30 percent discount on lodging throughout the weekend.

Below is a breakdown of Denver’s draft picks that will be announced by special guests:

Second Round:

Former Broncos linebacker Al Wilson, who was selected by Denver in the first round (31st overall) of the 1999 NFL Draft from the University of Tennessee, will announce the team’s second-round pick.

Wilson started 119-of-125 regular-season games and five postseason contests during his eight-year career—all with the Broncos. He was chosen to the Pro Bowl five times (2001-03, ‘05-06) and was selected to the Associated Press All-Pro Team twice (1st team, 2005; 2nd team, 2006).

A six-time team captain (2001-06), Wilson eclipsed the 100-tackle mark in six seasons (2000-04, ’06) in addition to finishing his career with 21.5 sacks (134 yds.), five interceptions (38 yds.), 46 passes defensed, eight forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries. He recorded 34 tackles (25 solo) and two passes defensed during the postseason and was the leader of a Denver defense that reached the AFC Championship Game in 2005.

Wilson was a three-year starter at the University of Tennessee and helped lead UT to a 13-0 record and a National Championship as a senior in 1998. A Jackson, Tenn., native, Wilson was a second-team All-American as a senior and a two-time All-Southeastern Conference pick.

Third Round:

Ring of Fame linebacker Karl Mecklenburg will announce the Broncos’ third-round selection. Mecklenburg, who was selected by the Broncos in the 12th round (310th overall) in the 1983 NFL Draft from the University of Minnesota, was inducted into the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame in 2001.

Mecklenburg established himself as one of the most outstanding defensive players in franchise history during his 12-year career from 1983-94. He was voted to play in six Pro Bowls (1985-87, ‘89, ‘91, ‘93), a total that ties for the fifth highest by a player in team history and was named All-AFC and All-NFL four times (1985-87, ‘89) as well as the 1986 AFC Player of the Year by Football News.

Helping Denver to seven postseason appearances (1983-84, ‘86-87, ‘89, ‘91, ‘93), five division titles (1984, ‘86-87, ‘89, ‘91) and three Super Bowl berths (XXI in 1986, XXII in ‘87, XXIV in ‘89), Mecklenburg finished his career with 1,145 tackles (787 solo) and 79 sacks. He posted 100 tackles in a season six times, including a career and team-high 143 stops in 1989, and recorded a career-high 13 sacks came in 1985 (then a franchise single-season record).

Mecklenburg began his collegiate career at Augustana (S.D.) College before transferring to Minnesota, where he earned second-team All-Big Ten honors as a senior in 1982.

Rounds 4-5:

The Broncos are scheduled to announce their four picks in the fourth and fifth rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft live from the base of Mary Jane Territory at Winter Park Resort on Saturday. The announcements, some of which may be aired live on NFL Network, will feature former Broncos safety David Bruton and special guests.

Fans and skiers at Winter Park will be encouraged to wear Broncos gear on Saturday. Fans wearing Broncos gear may have an opportunity to be incorporated into one of the team’s Day 3 selections.
