(KTBS) It has consumed the nation for two years: the Mueller investigation into alleged Russian collusion by President Donald Trump’s campaign.

But what has that got to do with Louisiana — and especially a Louisiana lawmaker?

It seems state Sen. John Milkovich of Shreveport could no longer stand idly by, witnessing what he terms an all-out attack on the President, by a man he calls part of the deep state, swamp establishment.

So he wrote a book about his views.

“Our book is really based on the ground breaking research of federal agents, whistleblowers, many people who were in government service —or still are; police officers, veterans, families of 9/11 victims and some international writers as well,” Milkovich said.

The title of the book is, “Robert Mueller Errand Boy for a New World Order.”

The website promoting the book states: “There is an epic disconnect between the Robert Mueller described by the mass media as a model of public propriety, and the Robert Mueller documented by independent researchers; an ever willing instrument of deep state dissimulation.”

That’s a mouthful. But why is a Louisiana state senator writing about Robert Mueller and his investigation into alleged Russian collusion by the Trump campaign?

“I’m a citizen; I’m a patriot,” said Milkovich.

But for some in Louisiana, including Lamar White Jr., the publisher of The Bayou Brief, the premise of the book is a hard sell.

“I think it’s an embarrassment to the state of Louisiana,” White said. “It’s an embarrassment to the people of his district.”

But Milkovich doesn’t mince words in his opinion of Mueller.

“Robert Mueller is a company man,” Milkovich explained. “He’s a deep state insider to use the expression. He’s part of the establishment. Robert Mueller has a career trajectory of cover-ups, corruption and, excuse the expression, collusion.”

The things to which Milkovich is referring are too numerous to mention, but Milkovich does back up his claims with detailed footnotes and bibliography.

“We’ve got over 100 sources we quote in the book, we cite in the book,” Milkovich said.

And all of them led Milkovich to conclude, “Basically he is trying to invent a case against Donald Trump. He has no evidence Donald Trump improperly colluded.”
