Kansas City, Missouri police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Thursday morning.Officers said a man died in a field near Independence Avenue and the Paseo at 1:15 a.m.Police said there were witnesses who they are speaking with to learn more about what led to that man's death. Police identified the man on Friday as Montez Blake, 58.This is the 123rd homicide in Kansas City in 2020. That's far higher than the pace at this point in 2017 when the area saw 151 homicides for the entire year -- the highest number recorded in the area since the early 1990s.
